Competitive Strategy Mobile Communications Business The Mobile Communications Business (MCB) is looking for a highly
motivated and competitively spirited individual to lead our mobile compete efforts. In this broadly visible and high
impact role you will: Gain deep understanding of the products, services, strategies and tactics of our mobile
competitors while following ethical and professional guidelines, then share and evangelize this knowledge to better
equip others across MCB and Microsoft in dealing with the opportunities and challenges we face. Work with other compete
focused team across Microsoft to ensure consistency and synchronization with all relevant stakeholders companywide,
through integrating and sharing all existing and upcoming competitive data and competitive insight. Work with the mobile
experience teams to identify new and emerging challenges and opportunities at the feature, scenario, experience and
business model level based upon your SWOT analysis. Then you will work across the marketing, product and field groups on
how to best capitalize on these. Drive active consideration of competitive insight within key decisions at all levels
through broad distribution and evangelism of this knowledge among decision makers. As a Senior Product Manager you will
work with product managers, product planners, field marketers and executives at the corporate level within MCB and
across the business divisions at Microsoft. Your specific deliverables include: Competitive assessment spanning
products, services, business and operational models, geographic coverage, partner ecosystem, and financials. Sources for
assessments include hands-on investigation, primary and secondary research, and "what-if" modeling exercises.
Comprehensive SWOT analysis versus Microsoft's strategy, roadmap, and go-to-market plans. Development of competitive
scorecards for Windows Mobile products & services. Creation and maintenance of key marketing materials including battle
cards, EBC presentations, head-to-head demos, TCO studies, feature comparisons, selling strategies, competitive talking
points, and more Flash reports on competitors' announcements, news items, analyst reports, and earnings reports covering
what it is and what it means for our business. Engaging directly with partners and customers as necessary to educate and
convince them of the comparative advantage of Microsoft's mobile offerings. Monitoring the blogosphere to identify
trends and community attitudes around our competitors. Qualifications include a minimum of 6 years of strategic
consulting and/or technology marketing experience. An Engineering or Business degree with a concentration in Business
Management, Finance, or Marketing is ideal; MBA preferred. Experience in product management and competitive analysis is
strongly preferred. Experience in the mobile phone market is also a plus, but is not necessary.
