Specialist The Nursing Informatics Specialist has a multifaceted role within the Nursing Administration Department
incorporating the components of clinical practice, consultation, education, performance improvement and research
regarding inpatient nursing practice. Responsible for coordinating the clinical information systems that directly impact
the work of the nursing department. Works collaboratively with clinical departments, information technology department
and nursing leadership in the design and implementation of the information system as it applies to clinical practice.
The Specialist ensures consistency of practice with the mission and vision of Enloe Medical Center, provides informatics
project management for assigned tasks, and ensures that projects are accomplished within acceptable time, budget, and
quality constraints. Maintains current knowledge of all practice standards as well as policies and procedures that are
supported by clinical applications. Maintains knowledge of all clinical applications that interface across the
institution. Utilizing clinical knowledge and advanced problem solving skills the Nursing Informatics Specialist is
responsible for facilitating quality improvement and informatics initiatives and appropriate resource consumption across
the continuum. Collects and analyzes clinical and operational information for use in information management initiatives.
Conducts formal and informal education for staff regarding information management. Participates with nursing departments
and nursing informatics in development of new training methodologies. Acts as an advisor in demonstrating compliance in
the performance improvement process. Participates in the evaluation, development and enhancement of nursing software
programs. The Nursing Informatics Specialist contributes to the service excellence mission of Enloe Medical Center and
the Nursing Administration Department. These services further the mission of Enloe Medical Center, which is to provide
